On-Grid Power
The customer, a cable-car operator in Austria, faced challenges managing dynamic energy demand. Running the cable car requires substantial power and drove high electricity bills. The BESS acts as the βmusclesβ of the system β storing excess energy from the site's PV panels and deploying it when needed. Because the cable car's demand changes rapidly and unexpectedly, the BESS's fast response keeps it running smoothly, cuts grid reliance and lowers electricity costs.
The Site
The key challenge was installing the battery storage system at an altitude of 1,500 metres, inside the former cable-car operations building. The remote location and the difficulty of transporting and positioning the equipment at that height created significant logistical demands.
